Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree Programme

Doctor of Medicine is a 10-semester (five years) competency-based program, leading to the MD degree of SFUCHAS. The first four semesters are largely devoted to basic sciences and introduction to clinical medicine, but also fieldwork and community training. The remaining semesters are largely practical oriented and consist of junior and senior rotations in the teaching hospitals, as well as community-based field training on community health and research methodology.

College Objective

The objective of the College, as regards the MD Course, is to train competent general duty Medical Professionals who after the appropriate period of internship can, without supervision, render adequate medical care both to the individual patients and to the community in differing situations.

Entry requirements

Direct Applicants.
Applicants must have three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a minimum entry of 6 points: Applicants must have a minimum of D grade in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

Equivalent Applicants.
Applicants must have a Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Clinical Dentistry with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in any five (5) non-religious subjects at O-Level.

Diploma Programs

A 6-semester (5 years) competency-based curriculum for pharmaceutical/health laboratory training to produce pharmaceutical/health laboratory technicians who are competent to enable them to work flexibly at different workplaces.

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences

Vision:
To have competent pharmaceutical/laboratory personnel who will provide pharmaceutical/medical laboratory services effectively in different health care settings and cope with existing and emerging health issues.

Mission:
To establish a conducive and sustainable training environment that will allow students and graduates to perform competently at their relevant levels and aspire for the attainment of higher knowledge, skills, and attitudes in promoting health, preventing diseases, and caring for clients in all settings.

Entry Requirements

All students who apply for Diploma programmes at SFUCHAS need the following:

  1. DIPLOMA IN PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES (DPS) – 3 YEARS

A holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least four (4) passes in non-religious subjects, including passes in Chemistry and Biology. 

  1. DIPLOMA IN PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES – (Upgrading) – 1 YEAR

Holders of Technician Certificate in pharmaceutical sciences with a GPA of not less than 2.0.

  1. DIPLOMA IN MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCES (DMLS) – 3 YEARS

A holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least four (4) passes in non-religious subjects including Chemistry, Biology, and Physics/Engineering Sciences. A pass in Basic Mathematics and English Language is an added advantage.

  1. DIPLOMA IN MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCES (Upgrading) – 1 YEAR

Holders of Technician Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences with a GPA of not less than 2.0.
